Callum Mcinerney-riley’s Fishing Diary - Mirror Carp Fishing at Carthagena Fishery, Broxbourne

I fishing as part of a social event with people from a forum. All the people who we know virtually we finally get to see in the flesh and blood.

They had never fished this water before and I was a venue regular so I decided to get them all sorted out with pizza's and make sure they were all comfortable. I didn't end up getting back to my swim until it was dark but I had been trickling Nash Scopex Squid Liver in all day on nice little silty patch.

As I was busy all day my swim was the only place on the lake that hadn't seen any pressure that day. I think my swim was a bit of sanctuary as every other swim had a couple of lines in. I put my rods out in the cover of darkness feeling the lead down to a very nice silt spot. After 30 mins my left rod tore off and I scrapped with a upper double mirror. The fish was trying to wipe my other rod out so I put the tip of the rod out of the way in order to land the fish I was connected to. I netted her after a well spirited fight and put her on the mat. My friend Nick kept his eye on her while I put my other rod back on the rest. The volume was turned down incase I knocked the rod as I didn't want to disturb anyone. I noticed the light on the delk light up and suddenly the line pulled tight. My mate shouted "you must have caught the line somewhere" to which I replied as I lifted the rod "No mate! It's a fibleep" completely elated. The fish in the matt was put back in the landing net as I struggled to stear the second fish in through the pads. As she neared the surface my friend shouted "it's Millie" by the time I replied jokingly "oh not you again" she was in the net along side one of her companions. This is the second time I've caught this fish but each time is just as special.
