A Brief Introduction to Alcott Farm

Alcott farm is run by hostess Jane Poole and International trainer and rider John Poole (producer of Olympic horses). The farm is set in 65 acres of rolling Worcestershire countryside only a short drive from the motorway network as well as Birmingham city centre and airport.

This beautiful country home has luxurious bed and breakfast facilities with en-suite bedrooms, good pubs and restaurants nearby, and within striking distance of Stratford-Upon-Avon.

Directions

Leave M42 at Junction 3, take the A435 towards Birmingham, go past the garage. Take the slip road on the left for 1½ miles to the crossroads, turn left down a steep hill, then left immediately opposite the Coach and Horses Pub. Alcott Farm is ½ mile on the right hand side, up Long Post and Rail Drive.

About the water:

Large Pool

The large pool is approximately 100 metres long and 50 metres wide with 20 well spaced pegs with wooden platforms. Some of the pegs are double and 8 have been designed with disabled anglers in mind.

Small Pool

At just a quarter of an acre in size, Small Pool is oval shaped with no designated pegs. Approximately 8 anglers can fish from it's grassy banks.

About the fish:

Large Pool

The Large Pool is stocked predominantly with common and mirror carp to 13lbs averaging between 3lbs and 4lbs. There are also a decent head of crucian carp to about 1lb as well as 5,000 tench, roach and bream. There are also plenty of quality roach up to 1.5lbs and perch to 1lb.

Small Pool

Carp to into double figures to be caught in Small Pool as well as some nice roach, perch and tench. 

Additional stock was added in the winter of 2008 / 2009  with the addition of some 10lb-plus carp as well as 250 kilos of fish in the 1lb 8oz to 3lb range together with some 5,000 four to six inch silver fish and tench being added in Spring 2009.
